LILACS !

I got these lovely lilacs at a new friends
house yesterday.  They are just starting
 to bloom.  They smell divine!
Thanks again Christina.

And we are getting more rain at
the Cottage.  Yippee, we need it!

Some people walk in the rain,
others just get wet.

First day of Spring !

When despair for the world grows in me and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be, I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the dayblind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

Dunluce Castle, Ireland

When I found this postcard in my
collection I wondered about the castle
on it.  So I looked it up online and found its current photo.  Isn't it breathtaking?  It
would sure be nice to visit one day.

March Days

It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold:  When it is summer in the light and winter in the shade.

Potatoes and the Moon

I have been wanting to try this recipe
ever since seeing it go around facebook.
Have you seen it?
In Australia they're called Crash Hot Potatoes.
Here is what they are suppose to look like.
Boil the potatoes until fork tender, put on an oiled pan and after smashing them, sprinkle with salt, pepper, herbs, garlic and parmesan cheese and bake approx. 20 minutes
 in a 450 degree oven.
Seemed so easy, yes?
Well, no, or at least for me!
I have a potato masher from the 70's,
which I love.  It makes the best mashed potatoes, but it was too "tight" to smash the potatoes like the "S" masher shown.   I also
used some grated cheddar cheese since I didn't have any parmesan cheese.
I ended up just using a knife and cutting
them willy-nilly after I had tried to smash them
and one slipped right off the pan and went
flying!   Here is what I ended up with:
They were delicious, especially with asparagus, but I think I will be on the lookout for another potato masher and try again.
I am quite surprised at how well
the details of this photo turned out
of tonight's moon.  Please click photo

Raindrops

We have had quite a bit of rain
 over the past 3 days.
I can see a difference on the shore.
We still need about 50 downpours like
we have had, but over the next 100 days.
Taken yesterday 3-3-14

May good luck, health and happiness
all fortune on you smile.
