Bonfire and yummy salad

Saturday night we had a nice bonfire.

We ate a grilled chicken salad with
pears, walnuts, sungold tomatoes
 and gorgonzola cheese, topped
with  a balsamic vinaigrette
by the fire and moonlight.

The weather was perfect.

Even Petey Pumpkin thought so!

We are still having our giveaway.

Make them bloom

People deal too much with
the negative, with what is wrong...Why not try and
see positive things, to just
 touch those things and make
 them bloom?
--- Thich Nhat Hanh
My friend Marie and I went to a
couple of nurseries this past week
and of course,  found all sorts of
wonderful plants!    The above is
a Sunscape Daisy and looks just
like a sunset.

Another friend and I saw the movie
Something Borrowed.   There is a book
out, in fact two, so we are looking
forward to the second one,
Something Blue.
It was cute, although something
was a bit off that I wish they
would have explained a bit more,
but I love these romantic
comedies anyway!
I forgot to mention that Mike
and I saw Soul Surfer and Rio
this past month too.  Both were
great movies and I wasn't
disappointed in Soul Surfer.
I was so looking forward to it
 and it was wonderful!

Jasmine's 5th Birthday / Giveaway

Well I got my computer back
although there are still programs
to re-load, etc.   I thought I would
do a quick post and show you
a photo of my dear sweet
niece, Jasmine, celebrating
 her 5th birthday.

Behind her is Mike on the right
and my Dad on the left .
We all met in Old Town Sacramento,
rode the train, ate at Joe's Crab
Shack and then walked around
Old Town.   This was taken
at Joe's.  They dressed her
as a birthday fairy and the
bottle she is holding was
 fairy dust she was
to sprinkle on everyone.
You can tell how thrilled
she was!  She was so cute though,
she walked around sprinkling it
on the ground in a big circle,
 with a dead-pan face.
Everyone loved it!

Here she is opening one of her
 gifts (natural modeling clay)
 with a big smile!

Hope everyone is doing well.
I'll be back in a couple of days
with more stuff.   :o)

Annoucements-One Day Without Shoes and Giveaway

Tomorrow, April 5th, is the
 One Day Without Shoes Event
started by Tom's Shoes

"TOMS Shoes founder Blake Mycoskie says that not having shoes puts kids at a heightened risk of injury, disease and infection. Among the soil-transmitted risks that most can't afford to prevent and treat are:
  • Hookworm: Causes anemia, stunted physical and mental development and, on occasion, congestive heart failure. Affects up to one-fifth of the world's population.
  • Podoconiosis or "mossy foot disease": Causes swelling of the feet and legs due to prolonged exposure to certain types of irritant soil.
  • Chiggers: Bites on the feet and ankles from these mites can cause severe itching and hives.
  • Tetanus: Potentially fatal infectious disease caused by bacteria entering the body through cuts or other open wounds. Causes painful muscle spasms and locked jaw.
In addition, many schools in rural developing nations require students to have shoes to attend schools, so not having shoes is a roadblock to opportunity."
