HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

To be truly happy and contended,
you must let go of what it means
to be happy or content.
--- Confucius
Here are some photos from this past month. I thought I would get that terrible picture of the oil disaster I posted earlier moving on down the list!

Look what hatched under one of our walnut trees last month? This was just about 2 weeks ago and the mommy cat has moved them since to someplace that we cannot find! :o( 5 in all, 2 siamese (mommy is siamese) 2 black multi tigers and one little black and white tuxedo. We thought she moved them to the field across the street (God only knows how as she had to jump across a tiny creek), but they may be in the vacant house next door. We hope to catch the mommy and have her fixed soon, but who knows. As many of you know, I did feral cat rescue and taming kittens 2 years ago and that could be one of the causes of my health challenges. One day at a time!

I couldn't resist taking a picture of this red pepper shaped like Mickey Mouse!

This yellow climbing rose is in downtown Lakeport. I passed it several times on my walk, but kept forgetting my camera so I finally made a special trip and drove by to take a picture. It has to be at least 40 feet tall.....just covered in small yellow roses and much more impressive in person!

I don't think I have ever had a double yolk egg in all my nearly 50 years! Isn't it cute? I hope it brings good luck!

This wisteria is also in Lakeport. The vine is growing on a fence about 40 or 50 feet long and then up the back tree. The tree is probably 20 feet. There was another wisteria downtown that was twice as big (I mean huge!), but I noticed that the people cut it down! Can you believe it? Almost sacrilegious!

HAVE A HAPPY WEEK!

OIL DRILLING DISASTER

All the flowers
of tomorrow
are in the seeds
of today.
--- Chinese Proverb
Right now, the remnants of what was supposed to be one of the safest offshore oil rigs in the world is spilling 5,000 barrels of oil a day into waters off the Louisiana coast. I just urged the Obama administration to reject a proposal that could dramatically expand harmful drilling along U.S. coasts and I hope you will too. Are you from Portland, Oregon? If so, this organization was founded by my husband's brother, Rick and his wife, Julie. If you are so inclined, please check it out and contribute what you can. They are doing wonderful work and a true example of allowing God to work through you to help others.

EARTH DAY - Our World

The above photo was taken a couple of days ago. Today is sunny and 72. Yesterday it was wild and windy and rainy with the sun peeking throughout the day and only 55 degrees! My, what a difference a day can make.

This is a tree across the street. I can lie in my bed and see it. It always reminds me of the heart. The base is large and strong, the branches are the arteries and then, of course, the little branches are the capillaries, reaching as far as they need to. It looks especially lovely when the sky is blue and the outline is so distinct. It always brings me peace.

Today's post is from Daily Word, a little magazine put out by Unity.
~ Our World ~
I am a conscious, conscientious part of a living world.
"The abundant life on this planet provides for all my physical needs. Everything I need comes directly or indirectly from the bounty of the earth. Conscious of the interconnection of all life systems, I am amazed by the order that governs it all. I, too, am part of that order, an integral part of the web of life.
I live responsibly as a citizen of Earth, and I consciously do my part to protect and restore this beautiful planet. I join with my children, my grandchildren, neighbors and friends in living harmoniously with nature. Aware of the impact I and others have on the systems that support all life, I am a conscientious inhabitant of God's abundant Earth.
--- This is my prayer, that your love may overflow more and more with knowledge and full insight to help you to determine what is best. --- Philippians 1:9-10"
